Day Patient
This area prepares and educates both the patient and their family of the procedure for which the patient is scheduled. At other hospital facilities, these rooms are normally divided by curtains, providing little to no privacy. At Texsan, the day patient area has 10 private rooms each equipped with a television and seating for the patient's comfort. While waiting for the procedure to begin, the family is invited to spend time with the patient in his/her day patient room.
Catheterization Laboratory
Texsan is home to four catheterization labs, which help physicians diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease. Some of the services performed in the catheterization labs are:
- Stents (both coronary and peripheral)
- Various Angiographies
- Myocardial Biopsy
- Intravascular Ultrasound
- Thrombolytic Therapy
Electrophysiology Laboratory
The electrophysiology lab is equipped to treat irregular heart rhythms. An electrophysiology lab is used by cardiologists who specialize in problems of the heart that cause irregular and sometimes life threatening changes in the heart's normal beating pattern.
Operating Rooms
Texsan has four fully equipped surgical operating suites that are 30 percent larger than an average operating room.
Patient Care Area
Texsan's patient care area is divided into four "pods" or units, each with a nurses' station. There is one nurses' station for every seven rooms, which means that from each station, nurses are within footsteps of the patient.
Due to Texsan's patient-focused care model, a patient is likely to remain in the care of the same nursing team through his/her stay. In a traditional hospital setting, a patient could be exposed to as many as 30 different health care staff members during one day. Texsan's organization allows the hospital to reduce that number to five or six. This approach to patient care promotes understanding, bonding and continuity of care.
Radiology
Texsan's radiology department contains many of the various modalities of medical imaging, including Diagnostic Radiology, Digital Fluoroscopy, UltraFast CT, Echocardiography, Abdominal Ultrasound, Vascular Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine. Many procedures are performed at the patient's bedside to minimize transportation of the patient.
Laboratory Texsan's clinical laboratory was designed with the needs of the cardiovascular patient in mind. Equipment was chosen for the ability to not only provide quality results but also to be able to provide results in a quick and efficient fashion. Laboratory staff members are trained to function in laboratory specialties that are unique to a cardiovascular facility.
Pharmacy
Pharmacy services at Texsan are focused on safe and appropriate medication management throughout the hospital. Texsan's use of the Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets ensures quick access of the medications frequently used by our physicians. Texsan provides 24-hour pharmacist coverage. After hours, pharmacists continue to enter the medication orders remotely, so there is pharmacist oversight and clinical review on medications prior to being administered to the patient.
Respiratory Therapy The Respiratory Therapy Department at Texsan is unlike that of other hospitals in that there are no levels of therapists for job roles. The same therapist who performs a patient's initial assessment or Pulmonary Function Test can also be the therapist who sets up a ventilator or life support system. Texsan uses protocols that allow its therapists to initiate breathing treatments or start noninvasive ventilation interventions as needed.
The Respiratory Therapists at Texsan are involved in patient care and have been trained to assist with percutaneous-tracheotomy, bronchoscopy, and GI-Lab procedures. Texsan therapists also provide smoking cessation education to patients, families and any staff who wants to quit smoking.
Emergency Room
Texsan features a Heart Emergency Center staffed by emergency room physicians and skilled staff. Texsan's emergency department is committed to seeing you as fast as possible, and in most cases, with little or no wait. |
